Real Estate Informative Meeting, Jan 19th at AMCC

Dear Pike Presidents,

As vice president of Arlington Mill Civic Association, it is my pleasure to extend an invitation to you, interested members of your civic associations, and other interested entities, to attend what should be a very informative meeting on January19 at 7:30 PM at the Arlington Mill Community Center.

Our topic will be real estate values at the west end of Columbia Pike.

Arlington’s condo sale prices (excluding the west end of Columbia Pike) have averaged an overall increase of $36,110 over the past ten years, but the average sale prices of condos at the west end of Columbia Pike have decreased $77,731 in that same 10-year period.  (Data from Arlington County.)

According to an article published on Tuesday, January 5th in ArlNow, overall home prices in 22204 have lost value, 22204 is one of only two zip codes in Arlington to lose value, and properties in 22204 have experienced a big increase in time it takes to sell them while they sit on the market.


First, we will hear from Arlington’s Department of Real Estate Assessments, and we’ll learn how real estate is assessed.

Then Takis Karantonis, from CPRO, will make a presentation as to possible causes, concerns, and paths forward, and he will lead our further discussion.
