Dear Neighbor,

This Saturday, September 17th between 9 AM and 2 PM, Wakefield High School Music Students in the Band, Choir and Orchestra will be knocking on your door in pairs to request your generosity toward Wakefield High School’s music department, a fabulous trio of growing and talented music students. We welcome your questions, your hospitality and in particular your monetary support. The students will have a brochure** and a return envelope to facilitate your donation. If you wish to donate online via Paypal, please go to www.SupportWakefieldMusic.org Any amount is welcome! We also would welcome donations in the form of musical instruments.

Wakefield’s band program consists of a marching band (70 this year, double the size from 2 years ago!), the symphonic band, the percussion ensemble, color and winter guard and the jazz ensemble. The Marching Warriors have a great show this year and will compete 3 times this fall in Herndon, Annapolis, and Virginia Beach with US Bands. Please come to a home football game and check them out at half-time either on 9-23-16, 10-14-16, or 10-28-16. The symphonic, jazz, and percussion ensembles will perform on December 6th, 7 PM. The jazz ensemble will have a special performance in the Spring at the Jazz Café and Silent Auction in the Wakefield black box. Stay tuned for details!

Wakefield’s choral program consists the Madrigals, Advanced and Concert chorus, and a Chamber chorus. Mr. Nader, the director, selects a wide range of music from the Renaissance period to contemporary tunes. Students are instructed on how to develop their vocal skills and having expanded their knowledge of music, continue throughout their lives with an appreciation of music in all forms. They were simply amazing at Disney last year and in my opinion, the best in Arlington County. Please come see them perform in the fall on Thursday, October 13th, 6 PM as well as their Winter concert, December 13th, 6 PM.

Wakefield’s orchestral program consists of a chamber and string ensemble. Please come see them perform at their Winter concert, December 7th, 7 PM.

If you will not be home or have no soliciting sign, please consider donating online at www.SupportWakefieldMusic.org.

Thank you for your ongoing encouragement of music in its many forms at Wakefield High School!
