Update on Columbia Pike Improvements
Work starts this Spring between County line and Four Mile Run
This Spring, pre-construction work will begin on the west end of Columbia Pike between the Arlington/Fairfax County line and Four Mile Run. The work is part of the County’s project to make Columbia Pike a safer, more accessible route for all users, which includes upgrading and undergrounding utilities and improving the streetscape.
The first major activity will be the relocation of the in-street gas main, which will start in the spring and is expected to last until summer 2017. Washington Gas is required to relocate their gas main prior to the County beginning construction.
What to expect during the Washington Gas gas main relocation:
- There will be traffic disruptions and lane closures while Washington Gas crews are in the street.
- Around the work zone, at least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.
- In addition to weekday work, weekend and night work are possible.
We will notify the community once a start date has been scheduled for the Washington Gas work. Continue to follow this Columbia Pike email list for updates. Additional information can be found on the County’s project webpage.
